The VRRI Research Department was honoured to receive Literacy Alberta’s 2006 Award for Excellence for its Plain Language Translation Service . The award was presented at a banquet and ceremony on November 3, 2006 at the Palliser Hotel in Calgary, Alberta. Nilima Sonpal-Valias, Director of Research, and Loraine Luterbach, Plain Language Translator, received the award and said a few words on behalf of The VRRI. Also present at the banquet were VRRI Board Chair, Dr. Bob Sainsbury, PDD Calgary CEO, Dr. Alex Hillyard, and some members of the VRRI Management team.
The VRRI’s Plain Language Translation Service has been a leader in producing accessible information for people with reading and comprehension difficulties since the early 1990s. This prestigious recognition by Literacy Alberta is a feather in the cap of The VRRI. Congratulations to the Research Department and to the Plain Language Translation Team!
