History |
Born out of care and concern of families and parents, the VRRI opened in 1969 as an all-encompassing place where adults with disabilities received residential, employment and recreational services under one roof.
Over the years our programs have evolved from providing an on-site residence and sheltered workshops to supporting people with disabilities to experience greater quality of life through successfully living and working in the community.
Today the VRRI facility is the hub of our organization where all services are coordinated. It houses on-site educational, support and health care services, a research department, a public use resource centre, office space for more than 350 services, research and administration staff, and a public recreation centre used by close to 155,000 Calgarians annually. |
