Enhancing Cultural Competency in Services to Persons with Developmental Disabilities
Description

The goal of the project is to prepare the groundwork for recommending future steps needed to enhance cultural competency in services to persons with developmental disabilities in Calgary. This included:

  • Identifying the key indicators of cultural competency through a comprehensive review of rehabilitation and cultural competency literature.
  • Using the key indicators as benchmarks to assess the current state of cultural competency of service providers to persons with developmental disabilities in Calgary, including areas of strengths and weaknesses, and resources and supports needed to achieve cultural competency.
